you know the photo you take down the lee rail when pushing hard on a beam reach? White water over the decks :) That makes a bit of a rubbish photo too. Same thing really, you either get it or you don't.

I really think that it's a case of each to their own - If that sort of thing doesn't appeal then you will never "get it", so on that basis I won't bother trying to explain.

In fact if that's what you think of this thread I'm not sure why you're looking at it?

If what's what I think of this thread? If you bothered to read some of my other posts I agreed that there is room for everybody on the water. I think you reply is a bit churlish actually, are you looking for criticism that isn't there? I had a reply from another motor boater that made me understand what it is that is ringing all the bells, and as long as yer bell is ringing that is just fine by me, after all, we all do it, whatever particular "it" it is for enjoyment, do we not?

A wake shot from a few years back, when you're in the middle of the dessert, no water doesn't mean you can't have the craic, necessity is the mother of invention, Toyota land cruiser, size 12 boots (one size fits all) ally board, tow rope, local driver, hand full of European oilworkers:)

For Chrusty1, I think this sums it up for us. You just cannot have this much fun behind a yacht :D

Although the thrill of getting the best out of a yacht close hauled in a stiff breeze comes close.

31.1 knots could show some of the mobos on here the way home eh?

IMHO, it's one of the very best sailing vids around, great photography, and great soundtrack.:cool:

You wouldn't like the costs involved, they would make your eyes bleed! It's fantastic pushing the envelope stuff, but it would make running even a very large fast mobo, seem economical.

I wont put any vids on here,( it is the mobo forum, and I don't want to get banned), but if you are interested check out the mini transat boats, some good vids around. 21+knots out of 6.5metre boats is pretty spectacular, and wake shots with quite large rooster tails coming off their rudders are often seen. There are some good vids of the two man transats, and the boats are summat else!

It's all a far cry from what most of us raggies indulge in, personally I wouldn't have the stamina, for the big uns or the little uns.:)

Apologies if I have disgruntled anybody, I will desist now, but I just thought that some mobo folks would enjoy seeing the sailing lunatic fringe:D

I think you could be right!!

Crusty, the wake shot is a by product of speed,almost from any boat, I suppose we take a photo of it as it shows that speed where as taking a photo looking forward from the boat doesn't, I personally love speed in most forms, but on water it gives me a real buzz, that is one reason I love mobos over sail, as you say though there are some serious sailing boats, the feeling of speed in a big sailing boat like those in that vid must be awesome!

I can appreciate your take on things, can you imagine how fast 20 odd knots would feel on a mini transat, no roaring engines and not much wind noise as for those speeds they are going downwind with their big chutes up.

It's awesome sailing! Personally I think all this us and them $hyte is stupid, don't really know how it came about, having a leg pull is one thing, but there is some very nasty verbal diarrhoea banded about. The sea is a very big place, over two thirds of our planet is covered with it, so I reckon there is just about room for mobos!;):D

The vids that Dylan Winter sometimes puts up showing irresponsible dickheads behaving badly are not indicative of mobo drivers, and I don't think they help much to be honest, they just help to re-enforce peoples often unfounded prejudices.
