This weekend a couple of mates met up at Fambridge on my dad's little Vivacity, he lent it to us cos we'd promised to do an old friend of his's garden cos the war wound was playing up...

While we were there we noted a rather worrying situation developing...

It was a bit warm, but we went off and did it anyway, cut the grass dug up the potatatoes, claned the patio, washed the windows and cooked him a meal, he was very grateful and obviously lonely so we did'nt want to rush off and appear boorish so we were a bit longer than we'd intended and in the meantime the girls and kids arived and the tide had turned. So we thought we'd get the boat back , however the outboard's a bit dodgy and it was a devil of a job to get it off the pontoon with
2+ kts pinning them to the pontoon.....

Now the worrying bit .. there was a big crowd of posh yachties staring at us, getting drunk and making facetious comments. Fortunately I'm mild mannered or I'd have clocked the loudest mouthed one called Neil.

What's the best way to deal with idiots like that in the future

Excellent :D

It's at times like this that I really miss the big blob rolling on the floor smiley.

Edit: found him

I'd call Neil all manner of things, but posh?...... I don't think so

Very ostentatiously take a notebook and write down the names of all the yachts. If any of them have club initials on the back, then ask the full name of the club. Again, write it down. Put the book in your pocket and walk away. Leave them wondering.

I'll just post one more time, not to Toad, but to anyone else interested enough to still be reading this rather unpleasant thread.

I won't be responding to the comments. I've little doubt that will result in gloating over a 'won argument'.

So be it.

I'll leave you to decide my reasons for not contributing to the thread any further.
