My suspicion is you shouldn't, however worth checking out and make sure you get a monster deposit cleared before incurring a penny in cost - then make sure that all payments clear before releasing anything - why not check with the police as well to see if there is any known frauds of this nature.

Also try and get some communication going - I have had a number of these in my job, and always once you try talking to them they disappear.

Are you in a position to sell 10 ribs to the Bangladeshi Army? Would you want the bother? If not......

I would have thought that the real Bangladeshi Army would have a local source of ribs, or a connection in the UN who could help them.

If it walks like a duck........

The IP address is located in Dhaka, Bangladesh, so that checks out, and it's not listed on any of the major blacklists.

Ah, now that was useful - cheers Brendan

Sort of my feeling - but yes I could source them with no difficulty. Depending on size though.

We had the same e mail last week wanting 10 trailer axles and 5 wheels to go with the axles . We asked what weight and size do you want the axles and do you mean 20 wheels to go with the axles , about an hour later the reply came back " yes your price is ok give me your bank numbers and we will pay you " so we went no further with that one, we did not give them the cost.

I get these all the time, i've traced the ip address to Bangladesh but if you dig deeper the email actually comes from N.Africa. When I was with Land LR we supplied armies, and they would only buy from companies with a UN number and never approach anyone else.

Latest one I have had is from Hangden trading Company China
Who would like to put 800 of there people through a lifeguard and rescue boat course Rescue PWC courses

Same goes for enquiries from Nigeria for Beach Lifeguard , rescue Boat and Rescue PWC courses .

Great you think until you try to find out if these companies actually exist, they are after your bank details mate.

Only ones we have found to be genuine is Dubai and UAE but we sent guy's out there to do the training and were paid up front.

As I said from the outset, I have my doubts as to the validity. We had another one last week from Nigeria wanting to train 40 18-25 year olds - that went straight in the junk mail box.

What can they do with your bank details? - our bank details appear on every cheque we write, (not many these days, but you know what I mean), so I cant imagine that the bank details on their own should be much use to anyone. (I'm not being obtuse - I'm seriously interested in why they want bank details, and what they can do with them)

I would have thought the next move would be to ask you for money to pay for a license or something... and so on.

I would definately send them 10 RIBS - tell them they can have them free of charge, therefore no need to exchange bank details.....But dont forget to add in the BBQ sauce. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I would do the same with this one then as others have said Pakistan Army would have its own contacts within the Military for purchase orders .

I have decided to forward the details to the Bangladesh High Commission in London. They can ascertain the validity and if such a company exists. I did not get off the banana boat yesterday. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Nothing. They ask for them to get you excited that money is coming your way.

Then there is a "problem" that requires a small amount of funding from you (a bribe, a tax, whatever) that you must pay before they can send you the big amount...

(And no, strangely they can't take it out of the amount they're going to send you)

I had 30 years in the police - much of it in the Fraud Squad. It's a Nigerian Advance fee fraud ...simple as. They work on volume and the principle that someone will fall for it which makes it worthwhile. Trust me - I've met plenty of them

Same as all those you have won the lottery via the Internet and before you can get your prize you must pay xxx in tax so they can send the cheque. It's been well documented and you can only feel sorry for those that have fallen victim to it.
