Cliveshep's earlier post and the introduction of the splendid word "shoogle" prompted a Google to see what it really meant before I approached the wife with handcuffs and chains....
A quick search produced phrases such as:
"vibrotactile display and realistic impact sonification"
and
"multimodal excitatory interfaces on mobile devices"

Q: Does one need a Phd in English to shoogle successfully?

Phd in English would do you not much good ...as its a Scottish word....meaning to gently shake and roll...as in `a shoogly bus`.
I understand that when in Glasgow, if you wish to attract the attention of a young lady then the phrase "shoogle yer wulkies o`er here hen" is apt....er...but be ready to defend yourself

Tis nae bloody good goin' tae Google,
Tae try an look up words like Shoogle,
Tis a Scots word ye ken
And reserved for such men
As dally wi Jimi Mc Dougal

Aye, the verb 'shoogle' is a rerr wee word, as is the equally rerr adjective 'shoogly', as in the admonition, "Yer jaikets oan a shoogly nail, pal, so watch oot!"

AH yes, I once shared a flight to Shetland with these gentlemen. The mandolinist was giving the flight attendant some grief and at the brief stopover in Wick was, as we say pit aff by the captain. This was about 10 years ago when err rege was becoming fashionable for the first time.

I must admit - it's words like this that bring a smile to my face and also to Anne's. I'm from Aberdeen and Anne is from the Black Isle - we bith live inPlymouth and it's not very often we come across 'proper' scottish words - so every now and then one comes along and makes us smile.
Recently we have also had scunnered which after a hard week at work - really fit's the bill

Well, Paul, here's a wee treat for you both.

So you were "scunnered"......yes in Aberdeenshire the verb To "shoogle" means to shake ..as in "shoogle the downie". Don/t think a "wifie" up here would take too kindly to a good shoogle. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif
