Just a thought as i change the fuel shut off valves and get the fuel tanks steam cleaned before refitting and refuelling.

I have these old CAv fuel filter/water separator's with WIX WF8020 spin off filters ( one for each of my 250hp 6 cyd. Hino WO6D engines)

Not sure what the fuel GPH these engines have or if the filters are adequate but boat was running sweet when i bought her and test drove before purchase. Previous owner never had any issues from what he tells me.
Been looking at racor 500 as a replacement but these are a lot of money but easy to change without bleeding the system.

Any other recommendations with easy fuse free filter change over available at better prices?

Yeah saw those and was very dubious! Not a big fan of China copies but you’ve used with racor filters with no issues I’m tempted.
the metal pipe work should be no issue if I fit the corresponding fitting from filter housing to metal pipe fittings, they should be close enough and there is a wee bit of play. I can always change it to suit I suppose
Cheers

the filters you have are good for about 20 gallons per hour and roughly 30 micron - they're cheap cheerful and that type of filter has been used for 40 years or more. Why do you want to spend your hard earned to buy something that will do the same job as these do already as you say the previous owner had no problems.

Easier changing of filters

Simply easier to work with to be honest, with 2 large engines and fuel tanks in same space it’s a real chore.
The Racor filter elements are meant to be better at water separation.
Is that a fact or just sales spiel?
Also like the no bleed filter change which makes life so much simpler

I am afraid its just sales spiel there is nothing magical in the separating capacity in a Racor. The separation is just caused by changes of velocity within the filter allowing the water droplets to settle by gravity. Almost any big jam jar could do the same.

The Fake Racors are ok, I used them previously, they are easier to switch than the old CAV, however, I'd say, keep on top of fuel hygiene and you won't need to worry about changing filters half as much.

I recently took out the old prefilters buried down in the bowels of of the engine bay and put in two pairs of Facors plumbed in parallel using 3/8” rubber hose and ball valves so I can switch between them and keep going if we get a blockage. B0B762D0-2285-4A29-8E53-75A9513EF51F.jpeg

Are those 2 engines a slightly different shade of blue?

wow how clean is that!!
Did you use genuine Racor or the cheap Chinese copies?
also when you did the change over did you have to bleed the whole fuel system right up to the injectors?

Yes that is what I'm doing now, having removed the 2 tanks I'm going to get steam cleaned and dried before refitting. Will be fitting all new shut off valves and fittings, and sealing with Loctite 577 thread seal.
Diesel I took from the tanks looks nice and clear, but I've it sitting in clear containers for past week so will see what the bottom holds as its settled.
Bought a Racor funnel that has a good filter to stop any small bits and also traps water. Putting in Diesel bug treatment when refilled into each tank as a precaution. New filters will also be fitted throughout.

As Scarron said facors meaning chinese copies and when you change over you may need to bleed it through but you will know more when you try and start your lumps!!

Oh Yeah Facors get it now, thought it was a typo, lol!

Not looking forward to bleeding 6 cylinder engines though. never did it before.

Bye the way guy's thanks a million for all the advice, really appreciated.
feel free to feed the beast, I'm all ears. LOL!

Bleed at the engine filter with a pela type oil sucker and you probably won't need to bleed further.
Sorry, not sure what that is or how to use.
There is a bleed pump at the engine filter which i need to change as well when im getting everything pipped in again and filled
