I'm reminded of the time a came back from Calais in a gale. It was gusting F8, and although we'd intended to stop at Ramsgate it just seemed safer to stay out and keep sailing. With the wind directly astern, the tiny headsail was lugging us along at 7+ knots. I remember flying up Foulgers (pre-windfarm) at around 11pm absolutely terrified but totally unable to stop....Absolutely - Black Deep and Foulgers - stress free whenever we've done it...
Foulgers every time for me nowadays
