Hi everyone

We'll be down at Shotley tomorrow. Will pootle down the river to get there lunchtime ish. Don't know what any of you look like. As for me, I'm blonde, 5'4" and will be wearing a straw cowgirl hat and probably some sort of pink clothing. Hubby is 6' tall, has dark blonde hair and is currently cultivating a beard. If you see us, please introduce yourselves. We'll be moored up for the night at Shotley on 'Ocean Glider' - don't know which berth yet, but if we don't see you during the day we'll get a chance to meet you all tomorrow night at supper.
Here's hoping for nice weather. /forums/images/graemlins/ooo.gif

we'll be about.... look out for 'Morgana' and come say hi... we'll point everyone out to you! (then you can choice whether to hide below or introduce yourselves /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif)

Although looking at the forecast, we may well go out for a sail first thing Sat, so proba not around until lunchtime-ish

If you folks are out and about take some pics for yourboatpix. I am afraid we won't be able to make it but looking forward to Oostende weekend.

Some folks are going over on the back holiday weekend though. We certainly are: out very early Sat (0200z) and returning Monday sometime.

Hi everyone
We would like to thank Alan too, for all his efforts. Sorry we didn't get a chance to do so personally this morning. Weren't sure whether you were up! Thankyou to all of you for being so welcoming - it was great meeting the faces behind the names. Give us a wave when you see out and about.

Yes,

Thanks to all from us for a great weekend...

And a special thanks to Alan for both organising the weekend, and also for dragging me to the Shipwreck at 13:00 to keep him company..... phew.... it was getting hard work by 19:00!

What a great weekend though.... the weather was good, and the attendance excellent.... and it was really nice to meet a few new faces, as well as the regulars after a long winter season!

They raised over £1500 for the charities in the end, so a great result allround...

And Alan.... you know that raffle ticket that we got just before you jumped in..... well sorry mate.... but it won /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif (albeit only a Toys-R-Us voucher!)

It was really nice to be able to put faces to names and see everyone, and have such an enjoyable saturday afternoon and evening with such a friendly, welcolming group.

I would like to say a special thanks to Jim for towing the "yellow peril" (tender) up for us. It has really helped us out following the unexpected loss of our own tender earlier in the month.

Best wishes Nick

Excellent weekend (ignoring Friday bash up The Wallet).

Fab sail back - 4hrs 30 mins back to Bradwell /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Tried to shake out reefs going down wind /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif HM was not pleased with all the 'playing around when things were nice and settled'. Ended up with a main that looked like some old bed linen /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gifbut goosewinging at 7+ knots can't be too bad. Never caught Dualin /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Raffle prize also won /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Good job Alan, good idea Neil. Out of the water tomorrow for some go faster antithing and to stop that blessed rope cutter from clicking.

Great to meet so many new faces. What a great thing this is.

Believe it or not, I had a call from Shotley telling me I had won "The Complete Yachtmaster" by Mr.Cunliffe himeslf - what a great souvenior of a great weekend.

And as ever, great to meet up with faces both old and new - what a great weekend. Thanks everyone.

Alan, sounds like we missed a bloody good weekend, good to hear it all went so well. As it turned out we wouldn't have been up to much anyway, I blame my cooking, but hopefully we'll make it to a few more this year. Well done for organising this one mate.

What a jolly nice bunch

I'd just like to add my thanks to all for being so welcoming. I'm sure that many virtual friends have now become real friends.

Roger, many thanks for the accommodation.

Alan, thanks for organising the meal, and the lift across to halfpenny. I'm still really impressed with the inch perfect boat handling!

Re: What a jolly nice bunch

Agreed.

Super evening. Thanks for organising it, Alan.

Hope to see everyone again during the summer, on or off the water - if you see some idiots waving manically from Vela Rose - that's us again!

Ali and Gordon

Thanks you for your help taking line when I came in. Thanks to everyone else who help in my rather undignified departure, including getting to the lock before I remembered leaving the dinghy on the pontoon...

Sorry I didn't manage to get round to seeing more people, or showing you round the boat, things seems to get rather hectic rather quickly on Sunday morning for departure.

A great weekend. Weekend coming is looking like a Stone Point one, for the children on the beach.

Well worth getting soaked and bounced on Saturday.
Splendid event and I think our largest turnout.

It certainly was enhanced by the stuff going on for Shotley fun day, and the weather was grand in the shelter.

As usual, I have no recollection of going to bed on Saturday night, but I know I was last seen on Mr Tinkles. Apparently. It's that D3B bloke, he is to blame.

Marvellous to meet so many new people, some I had a fair bit of time with, others I will catch up on.

We had the best sail of the last 2 seasons going home. Wind up the chuff, with the tide, perfect sunshine, arrived on our mooring about 10 minutes before sunset.

The Blackwater contingent were playing out their version of the closing scenes of The Waltons on the VHF. G'night Sabre. G'night Dualin. G'Night Mr Tinkles. G'Night Swedish Lass. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Roll on Pirate weekend.
