Can someone please help me!

I have been trying to get the costs for the 2011 season from them....

I am sure that peeps must have renewed and have the per meter rate for 12 months...

If someone could PM me that I would be gratefull!

Trying to do our budgeting for next year.....

Hmm, That means a increase on the 2010 prices....

I note that they say they cant do a rate for the year ealier at the 17.5% rate.... but you are saying it will go up with the 20% rate.... which means that the £305 rate is at 17.5%.....

If they raise the invoice pre Jan 4 then it HAS TO BE at 17.5%....

£311 per meter.... Officially. Pro Rate from when we arrive....

Yep, just looked at the renewal letter, and that says £311 p/m from 4/1/11

The renewal rate was £305 if paid before 15/12/10....

Not sure what happens if you pay between the two dates! :D

Happy to scan and e-mail the letter to you if you need it... just pm me an e-mail address if you want a copy

Thanks! I have now gotten some sense from them.... called a couple of times and they couldnt give me the rates....

Couldnt pay on the £305 rate anyways as we dont know when we are arriving....

Funny... my berth at Plymouth is DOWN for the 2011 season over what I paid in 2007/8...

Thats because they were too high in the first place and in a sellers market and are now desperate to fill up some of the empty 50 or so berths. There is no model for marina pricing certainly not at PYH pips and squeek springs to mind.

But if supply and demand are the drivers behind marina pricing.... why is Shotely putting up the rates when they have empty berths as well.....??

Who is squeezing whose pips I wonder??

Try and see how many berths you can find in the Orwell area. Not many, most are full.

I had all this a few weeks ago, see the thread i linked to. I concluded that whilst Shotley was a lot of money, in comparison to the other similar local marinas, they were cheaper.

Although they went up this year, from £297 to £305, this was the first increase in two years, so maybe not that bad. My 8m berth has risen £64 in two years.

Yes, it went up.

Yes, £305 was with VAT at 17.5%

Yes, it will go up again when VAT is 20%.

Yes, pre-Jan 4 it will have to be 17.5% Today is Jan 3, which is why i said you need to be super quick :)

Don't know about that - when we were looking to move, most places where I enquired were able to accommodate us (short or long term).
There are more empty berths out there than you think.

I think the situation is probably changeable, i rang around a few weeks ago, when i got the Shotley renewal and not many had space. Levington said they were full, but might have some when they issued their renewals. But as you say, they did have some Winter berths, just no annual ones.

Resistance is futile
