Just a reminder that the annual lock closure starts today for two weeks.

Reopens Friday 27th 12.00 hrs. Shipwreck closed until Monday 30th.

Always wondered how much dropped gear they find down there?

loads... last year they found 11 boat hooks for starters!

Iirc, most of the 'recoveries' were given to the RNLI to sell for funds.

What we found this year................

Well, The Lock is empty and i guess congratulations must go to all of you for managing to keep (most) of your belongings on board when coming into/leaving Shotley over the past year!

Three boathooks
Two handheld vhf radios
Two spanners
One saw
One pair of sunglasses
One VW Golf car key! (Remember the owners little girl dropping this in the summer and his car was here for about a week with the sunroof open!- we covered it when the rain started getting heavy!!!!).
