Why??!

Adapted to standard 13amp domestic socket then plugged in with a standard 13amp plug and then back to shorepower connections.

And left outdoors in the rain and weather, its electrifying.

RCD on the supply, so they're probably not actually going to harm themselves (seen the Youtube vids of people sticking knives in toasters to demonstrate RCDs?). But you do have to wonder what on earth they were thinking with the adapting back and forth. I've done the opposite before (13a -> ceeform -> 13a) as an improvised extension lead where I just needed a couple of feet more reach, but the way it's looped round the box that's obviously not the reason here.

Got to be a wind up. Nobody is that ****in stupid...are they ?

Oh yes they are! We usually lift out for a few weeks in winter and some of the shore power boxes can be a fair distance from boats. Instead of having a long lead, some people just use extensions rather than long leads and leave the plugs/sockets on the ground even when it's raining, with no protective covering whatsoever.

Unless the socket on the box isn't a standard 3 pin?
Perhaps the polarity is reversed or it's a botched 5 pin connection?

Probably not though ...

Just an idea but it was not the easiest way to reverse the polarity?

Adjusting a couple of wires in a plug only takes a second...

You'd just need a plug to in-line socket link with the wiring reversed. There would be no need for the domestic 13 plug and socket in the middle.
