I've got a Shoreline Compact RT VHF. The speaker has packed up and I can't find a replacement (Yes I've tried Maplin!) Its a Mylar speaker, 8ohms, 3 watt, 2.25inch diameter.

I've found a half watt one which is working, but its only temporary and I won't be turning the volume up as presumably it will blast the cone into orbit if I do!

Any idea where I can source the right speaker?

Shoreline was sold by Sowester? - if so I believe the radio side was taken on by Silva - you might be able to get a spare from them. I've looked in the RS catalogue and they also don't do one exactly as the same. They have Mylar Ø2", flanged and unflanged x 1W but the 3W ones all seem to be Ø85. They might be able to supply a standard paper cone type but don't know how long it would last, it depends whether you set is exposed to water etc. I have used a small extension speaker on a lead in the cockpit for years, (under the spray hood)it's a paper cone type and still OK. RS tel no is 01536 201201 or online at http://rswww.com
