Shore Rig - how do you dress when going ashore?

We have a local friendly to the charity rescue boat I'm involved with, last time I came in wearing a rescue buoyancy aid and drysuit and not an eyelid was batted by the landlord, he simply asked one of the waitresses to bring us bowls of hot soup, on the house, to warm us up as it had just started snowing outside. A perfect pub, an amenable landlord, hot food and a 140 foot mooring outside.

How do you dress when going ashore?

To the left , I think, same as when I'm on the boat. But it has been many a year since I have had a tailor thrust his tape measure in my crotch and ask the question before measuring my inside leg.

(31 inches, for the truly inquisitive.)

Do you change for runs shore - whether smart or casual - or rock up as a sailing gear consumer in branded clothing, technical layers, deck-shoes, sea-boots, wanky caps, etc.

Me, I like to wear a normal jacket or anorak, street-shoes, that sort of thing, and certainly wouldn't wreck deck shoes (again!) by wearing the soft soles down on asphalt.

Just change into clean shorts, add tee shirt and sandals and dinghy ashore, we don't do rain or cold these days:)

I googled 'Cowes Rig' and found this....
