I assume voltage is 240V could anyone tell me whether they use 16A blue marina sockets for shore power or is it different?

Are the shore power supplies reliable?

Does anyone with a big boat draw a large load with or without problems?

I am opening an office out there and want to make sure that our steam pressure washers can be used - they draw about 10A.

Many Thanks

I think you will find the voltage is 220v - the UK is 230v not 240 any more.

Only have experience of two marinas - Almerimar, you have to obtain the special adaptor from the office, paying a deposit, as there is a special socket on the pillar.

Aguadulce is standard 16A socket, with freedom to use.

My understanding is there is a number of different connections - not all the same.

Its been a couple of years (2002) but when I was there Empuriabrava, Barcelona (Olympic) and all of Menorca were standard 3 pin connections, same as UK.

All the electrics worked fine, except wifees hairdryer which she set to 110volts-Doh!

I think you will find that the EU is now "harmonised" with regard to mains voltage. meaning that the official requirement states 230v +/- tolerance enough (don't remember offhand exactly what the number is) to cover 220v and 240v.
So no-one has to change anything but we are somehow all the same... /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Been in 15 or so Spanish Marinas. All 220v. 3 different shore connections found, standard 16a, bigger 32a socket plus a common but rather odd push in and twist variety. The marina offices are always ready to rent out an adaptor but the cheap option when cruising is to make your own for the various types. Saves big hassle when you get in to your berth and want to get the kettle on. Power supply usually reliable.
The staff in Spanish marinas are generally very helpful and friendly. Normal practice is to go to a reception dock, do the paperwork and get your adaptor. They will then assist you in docking at the nominated berth. Language is never a problem, they are used to all sorts. Hope this helps.
