Shore lines - direct or through inside boat fairleads?

I’m on a visitors pontoon where the flood tide rips through. A boatrafted outside without shore lines but it’s a small boat so I’m not unduly bothered. Now a third boat has arrived while I was away. They’ve thought to put out a shore line and have threaded it through the port and starboard bow fairleads of the mid boat and mine.

I’ve only seen shore lines take directly from outer boats to pontoon cleats. Is it accepted or even preferred practice to take shore lines through the bow fairleads of other boats in the raft?

If likely to be exposed to any breeze or more then shorelines to the shore direct from the outer boat with sufficient lead to stabilise the raft is what is required as it also reduces the load on the inner boat shorelines.
