The man set himself up as a local equivalent of the hitler youth or Stazi informer whilst ignoring the weekly debacle of disregarding social distancing on Westminster Bridge . The law may say something, but it the laws and regulations do not make senses and in many cases are contradictory. On top of that these Covid laws were rushed through Parliament with only a cursory Parliamentary scrutiny. They do not make good laws, but they are easy for thick plod to issue fines whilst ignoring immigration and life threatening behaviour from jet ski idiots.

If his actions got someone a fine then, yes the person anchoring overnight was infringing a regulation. And yes burning his boat is a criminal matter. But Mr Ardley can rest assured, the police won't do anything to catch the perpetrator because they will all be busy issuing fines for anchoring overnight. It's a matter of what is really important.

Where do people get their ideas from? A good question.
Perhaps too many films etc where the "good guy" solves all his problems by dobbing in the "bad guy".
Perhaps a revulsion against the state "informer".
Perhaps frustration after three months of house arrest?

Surprised at some of the reactions here, what ever you think of what the person said there is no excuse what so ever for threatening to burn his boat. The only response I think appropriate is utter condemnation of the threats without equivocation.

Apparently not.
Does one say the same about a building targeted by a political demonstration against some perceived injustice?
Again it seems not?

Where mob rules begin to apply, there is no stopping them.
