River restriction
When: 9 July 2014 for approximately 4 weeks
Where: Nuneham Courtenay bends, Lock Wood Island, 1 km upstream of Abingdon Lock
What’s happening: Channel restoration; removal of a shoal created by the winter floods
During this period tugs and barges will be operating in the area of Lock Wood Island. Overnight the excavator pontoon will be anchored in stream. It will be lit.
As the works are being carried out in a sinuous length of river, please navigate slowly and with caution in this area while the works are being carried out.
Please follow directional signage and any directions given by officers of the Environment Agency. Further information regarding signage and marks during maintenance work on the river can be found on page 12 of the Cruising Guide to the River Thames.
