Shouldn't the grounds be, erm, grounded?

AIUI NMEA cable screens should be grounded at the receiving end but the e7 makes no provision for access to an earth at the device itself so I am either not going to bother or else ground all the screens at the switch panel.

So long as the screens are only grounded at one end I doubt it will make any practical difference.

As a bit of an aside Garmin allows multiple GPS mushrooms on the same N2k network and you can select which one to read and which ones to ignore directly from the MFD screen. This delivers the "redundancy" aspect. I realise this doesn't help OPs particular case; just passin on the info in case relevant to anyone
