Shipping to Malta

I sold a boat to a chap in Malta - went from Southampton via Salerno and took around 10 days. Booked through SeaNav Maritime Services Limited.

Just be aware Malta are sticklers for documentation - they want proof of everything - including originals for VAT / SSR etc.

Peters and May every time. They run regular Mallorca runs too. Weather dependant 9 days, offload in two hours, start engines and your off. Totally stress free.

I am considering shipping my boat out to Malta.
Looking at options. Anyone done this and the most cost effective shipping company?
All feedback appreciated
Hi do you plan on berthing in Grand Harbour or Laguna? Might be interesting if you decide to come this side of the Mediterranean to meet up. I live perminantly in Gozo and Popski (boat) berthed in Mgarr Marina. Fees are slightly better here however facilities are lacking but we do get the essentials electric water fuel etc. Let me know your plans

And you can walk to one of my favorite restaurants It Tmun!

Personally I prefer Ta Tona somewhat better view and food is good too. You obviously know the island.

I've been to Gozo more times than I remember and it always feels like a second home. I've not been to Ta Tona but will go next time I'm there. We've known Lele and Jane from It Tmun for getting on 25 years (from when they used to have their little place in Xlendi) hence our love of their place.

Wow going back a few years. We did visit his sons place in Victoria a few times "Patrick's" just a bit too neveau quisine for us. Much prefer the Gozo food style. Have you any idea when you might be back over here.

No plans and as we've just bought a boat and will be keeping it in Mallorca so sadly I doubt we'll be in Gozo anytime soon.

Hi I'm looking at Grand harbour but also the new marina di Valletta. But am a little concerned about the swell, especially when the wind is blowing from the East

Its true the north east can be a bit of a problem in grand harbour as the swell has no where to go except coming in then going out again. However it is mostly protected by the breakwater and the fairway. Have been in grand horbour for 8 nights and did experience the north east swell but only lasted a few hours the dissipated. Not too sure about the Laguna or others. My berth is Mgarr Marina and popski is there 12 months of the year but for 90 days when I take her out, clean her bottom anti fouling and service then back she goes mid April to Januar
