Feeling somewhat embarrassed by my comments on the boaty day thread here, I checked out the position this morning.
There is an intermittent fault on the electrics which defying resolution until EA can get a team down to fix it.
Rather than leaving the lock inoperable the lock has been set to hand winding when the lock is unattended.
Although a bit tedious it avoids anyone being stuck in the lock should it fail again - as would happen if OOPS had been left on.
"We" should be grateful to the lockie for doing that so promptly.
