Can anyone help with a GPS problem I'm struggling with at the moment. I am trying to connect an Evermore SA-320GPS Antenna to a Navman 7100 dsc radio. They have the following wires:

SA320
Red Power Supply
Green Tx Output Signal
White RX Input Signal
Black Power Ground
Gray Shield Wire

Navman7100
Yellow NMEA+ Data In
Green NMEA-Data IN

I've connected the Red Power Supply and the Black Power Ground to the same on the radio.
Have tried both Green/White to Green /Yellow combinations but still no position info on the radio. The NMEA and Baud are the same. So where does the Shield Wire fit in?

Try the following

SA320 Navman7100
Red Power Supply
Green Tx Output Signal Yellow NMEA+ Data In
White RX Input Signal unconnected
Black Power Ground Green NMEA-Data IN
Gray Shield Wire unconnected

I have never used the above equipment, but think that should work.

Sorry the formatting of the last post didn’t work

Connect the Green Tx Output Signal of the SA320 to the Yellow NMEA+ Data In of the Navman

Leave the White RX Input Signal of the SA320 unconnected

Connect the Black Power Ground of the SA320 to the Green NMEA-Data IN of the Navman

Leave the Gray Shield Wire of the SA320 unconnected

I'm indebted to you for your help Noelex. Although it did'nt work initially when I connected it up this afternoon by connecting the green/black combo to the Navman's ground cable it sprang into life. In future I shall buy gps and accessories from the same manufacturer. Its a nightmare at the moment. Many thanks to you once again.

Glad to help and thanks for letting me know it worked.
I have received a lot of good advice, on other boat matters, from others on these forums myself, so I am happy I have returned some of the good Karma.
The NMEA protocols are confusing with manufacturers using different terms and colour codes for the same thing.
Its always satisfying when the connections finally do work.
Cheers John
P.S do not be concerned about mixing manufactures. On my Yacht I have Raymarine, B&G, simrad, Furuno, Garmin Icom and windows XP all taking to each other.
