We'd used up the two 5 litre water containers while anchored in Stangate so thought we'd call in at Queenboro. Couldnt track down a tap on the ATL (found it later) nor in facilities block ashore. Too early for Old House at Home to be open. Similar for Flying Dutchman but chap in garden was watering flowers ; "Could you just fill up these from your hose please?". Chap sucked teeth and said that he couldnt do that! Ah well, needed some stuff from minimart so wrnt in there, bought our stuff and asked about water. Turned down because water on a meter - "I'm running a business you see." We offered to pay and response was £1 .....each. Dropped to £1.50 for the pair.
Got back to boat and sipped each drop of pricey tea thoughtfully

If you had a dinghy with you, you should have carried on down Stangate and in to Halstow Creek to Lower Halstow Yacht Club on the tide. There's a tap at both ends of the jetty. There probably wouldn't have been enough water to reach the jetty unless you are very shoal draft on the current neap tides. Water would have been free there.
