My boat is a deep fin which winbters in cardiff and summers on the south coast. Hence a yearly trip round lands end which is often a PITA. Problem is simple. I dont want to bash to windward with wind over tide so going down channel in a westerly is not on. I try to go in an easterly but the usual stopping point at Ilfracombe is no use to me - I would be right out in the entrance with no shelter at all. Lundy is no use either. And by the time I get to Padstow I might as well continue round.
So where can I stop en route in say and easterly 4 or 5? Behind Bull point for example? Combe Martin strikes me as pretty limited swinging room. Past Hartland maybe? Anybody tried any of the less usual places?
