I have a pal who wood turns very well and has turned a couple of sheaves in teak and lignum vitae.

Would aceral delrin rod be a suitable material for turning sheaves for a typical modern(ish) sailing boat. Would it be easy enough to shape
on a wood turning lathe?

Yes, acetal or delrin both turn very nicely - at max speed is best

It's a great material for sheaves - far better than those usually supplied

I have some delrin sheaves. They work as well as any of my others.
