Sheared bolt

Said bolt sheared not when I tried to remove it, but because the bracket is supports was loose and it gave it a smack.

So: bolt shank left in is probably still free to turn. Probably not seized.

My concern is that if I try to drill it out, it will rotate and make its way to the other end of the hole. And then drop into the inlet manifold!

My query is whether drills are available that work in anti-clockwise direction.

Any toolmakers clocked on tonight?

Do a search for left hand drill bit.

Try gluing it back together with superglue. Might hold?

Yes ... left hand drill bits along with stud extractors that left hand screw into drilled hole.

Of course extractor if stud is seized or difficult

You don't mention the diameter but if it's free to rotate and you can get at it, then tap it anticlockwise gently with centre punch until you can grip it with something.

I've used LH drill bits OK for removing broken bolts and screws.

I would risk it screwing in when drilling. I think if you have lots of pressure on drill then this will translate to grip on thread so not turn. Just monitor very carefully to see if it is in fact screwing in while drilling. Use a small drill and small extractor. ol'will
