There's a reasonably priced She 31B for sale near me. Does anyone know the standing headroom figure for these boats. Google has yielded just about every other spec. I realise these boats are not famed for their accommodation levels, but if anyone could give me a rough idea of headroom it would be appreciated. Or, if any previous or present owners of She 31's don't have the actual figure to hand, perhaps they might give me an idea of how much I'll be stooping when in the cabin. I'm 5'10" tall.

I used to sail on Sheba.

Beautiful looking boats, and, in my view, a really enjoyable boat to sail.

I'm also 5' 10", and didn't find headroom a problem. I guess it depends on your expectations.

Edit: I do remember that there is not much sitting headroom, under the sidedecks, at the forward end of the settee berths.

Thanks Neal, when you say you didn't find headroom a problem, do you mean you could stand without stooping or bending over at all?

From the 1970 Yachts and Yachting review, standing headroom is quoted as 5' 10". I would think that is the after half of the main cabin, the headroom reduces as you go forward.
I had a 9.5 Traveller, a 31 with a slightly higher coachroof; enjoy!

I have a She32C, which I believe is the same hull with an extended transom.

6ft headroom over the walking area of the main cabin.

We used to own the She that NealB sailed on. I had standing headroom all through but then I am only 5' 4" ;) the OH is probably 5'11"ish and from what I could remember he could stand up in most of the saloon - with perhaps a slight nod of the head as he moved forward - think he had to stoop a bit in the heads - but the he always enforces a sit down rule on board so not a problem.

Headroom aside she's a great boat, beautiful both in and out of the water and probably one of the best boats to sail I've been on.

The She31B is a proper sailor's boat, and if having one requires dragging your tongue along the cabin sole, it's still a lot better than the floating caravans !

In reality I think you'll find her roomy enough, as you must have a sailor's eye to have her catch your attention.

I know NealB and he talks good sense.

Go for the boat, quick !

( No I'm not the vendor or any connection ).

Cheers Seajet, when I first saw a picture of the She it was love at first sight but I'm torn between a proper boat such as the 31B or a lifting keel boat such as a Super Seal 26 which would make a lot of sense here on the muddy east coast. Current boat is a Jag23 swing keel which has been great as a first boat, but, lacking the keel bulb your boat has is prone to heeling a bit too readily in a blow. Probably my ideal boat would be a Sadler 29 but they're out of my budget at present whereas She31's can be had for under £10k.
