Hi

Looks like I am moving house to Gloucestershire. Am thinking about keeping my boat at Sharpness Docks - quite happy to potter up the canal as a substitute for day trips, but on the few occassions a year I'll want to head of for a week or so I was wondering if anyone had any experience of heading down the Severn to North Devon / South Wales - any advice on the best places to visit (4' 4'' draft).

Many thanks

If you come round to the other side some time when Lydney are sailing there are plenty of people there who know the river. They are away at the moment on their summer cruise /forums/images/icons/cool.gif.

Yep! agree with Mark .... I joined Lydney at the beginning of the year to learn about big tides and eddy currents. Fantastic bunch of friendly (eccentric) characters with an excellent knowledge of the Severn and Bristol Channel (Dinghy and Yacht)

Back from their summer cruise this weekend. I'm not sure what the final plan was ... probably something like Porteshead, Watchet, Minehead, Lundy, Cardiff, Newport, Chepstow, Lydney in Wayfareres!...

Best time to catch us = 1.5 hous each side of high tide at the weekends

Oh ... and welcome to Gloucestershire

Thanks - I'll pop round to Lydney when we've moved and have a chat (before moving the boat round!)
