Yesterday I set about trying to repair a small hole in my tender. It was a previous repair made by the last owner that was coming off.

It was right up against the makers logo thingy and the black thick strip on the side. The previous patch was coming away so I thought i'd help it the glue come of with a delicate application of a scalpel.

Well I now know i'm not that delicate with sharp things..!!!!..a 2cm slice right along where the thick black strip is...with zero change of repairing it...what a bugger.

It was an old tender so i'm not gutted about replacing it.

So I start shopping last night..2.6m tender with an air floor..£389..sounds good..but £200 for the snap davits pads...WTF!

I have weaver...do I need these or will the cheaper ones do?

Also any thoughts on a hard floor tender..weight is not an issue other than the 50kg of snap davits.

assuming that there's material under the black strip (it has to be!) how about removing part of the strip and doing a proper patch there.
I'd suggest getting someone else to do it as it doesn't look you're good enough with scalpel and delicate materials :p

cheers

V.

last time I needed snap davit pads I came across the same issue, but I found someone selling them for about half that, I will have a look and try and find the seller.

Thanks folks..the old patches are well used and a bit tired so I don't mind getting new ones.

It's expensive this boating lark..!!!

Something like that. I just loop the swim platform ladder through the rope that surrounds the tender and hoist up on that. Once the swim ladder closes it locks onto the rope like a vice. I often think to myself, that's just not kosher. Then I think of the several hundreds I'd need to conform and revise my opinion to gawdamn genius. However if snap davits were more realistic 30 quid a pop I'd go kosher. Until then my Scottish roots hold sway
