I really find it hard to believe that a professional outfit such as Ancasta can present an advert in such a poor manner.
Whoever took the pictures couldn't be ar*sed to remove the window blinds, open the curtains or move the dehumidifier!
What on earth is the owner thinking of allowing his boat to presented in this slap dash fashion?

If the owner couldn't be bothered to present it in a "for sale" manor then why should the broker be bothered? To me, all that says about the present owner is that the boat was unloved therefore ill maintained. It won't be sold soon.:(

It would not put me off going to look at it. !

The point I'm making is that Ancasta, a top end broker, are marketing this boat in an appalling way. If they ever sell this boat ( and I'll be surprised if they do when it looks like this in the photo's) they'll be very fortunate given that there are thousands of boats for sale that are presented in a proper way. It's probably a very nice boat but you know what "they" say - you have a few seconds to make the first impression and the only impression I have right now is that it's dark, dated and very uninspiring.

That's not even a patch on this, checkout the soaked cushions! This advert has completely put me off looking at this boat, shame really as it's close to where I live and I am seriously looking at the moment!!

You think thats bad ,I am after a small motor boat , went into the Ancasta office ,do you know any surveyors , Yes was the reply , They kindly gave me a list , they are all YBDSA surveyors . That can not be right can it? I pulled out of the sale because of this . I have had bad experiences with YBDSA surveyors in the past. I for one shall not be using Ancasta in the future

What did you expect? Of course they're going to recommend accredited surveyors!

And you don't have to use anyone from their list, they're just recommendations.

Whats the old saying? 'first impressions count'.The pics are truly awful and give a very poor advert for the boat. These days you need every trick in the book to get people interested. The owner obviously doesn't care if he sells or not.

I dont understand why sellers dont get more involved with picture choice and listing their details , why would you let a broker put up duff photos and dodgy info about your boat that you are trying to get a potential buyer to fall in love with !!

I'd go with that. For a £100k boat, with a not too insignificant commission for the broker when sold, 10 minutes of tidying and hiding unnecessary clutter is the least I'd expect.

All too easy to jump to conclusions. Agreed the photos are poor, but how do you know they were taken by Ancasta and not provided by the owner?

A) Seen worse.
B) Ancasta are hardly top of the range brokers! When we were trying to buy, they were totally hopeless. Think of them as the McDonalds of brokers... and you might be closer to the mark...

IMHO!

You're right about conclusions, but i'd be hugely surprised for the likes of Ancasta to use owner supplied photos. After all Ancasta should know best on how to market your boat, and show its best sides.

But hey, you never know.

Can you explain what an accredited surveyor is. I agree that I do not have to use the list but to have only ydsa surveyors on a list does not look good , as as a buyer I am not impressed with Ancasta .To present a boat that is scruffy is unexceptable when they take the sellers money quick enough. Bit like call centres in India. Ancasta have not woken up yet and put the customer first.

Well Ancasta have sold 3 boats for me and I have been very pleased with them. Personally I would only use a YDSA broker, see their website:- http://www.ydsa.co.uk/index.html

brokers!!

When I was looking for a boat, admittedly my budget was very small (£13,000 to £16,000) brokers were absolutely useless. Made an appointment with one to see a boat and it was not even available to view, drove over an hour and a half to see it, broker tried to convince me it was not what I was looking for. Another one refused to put my offer forward then when I raised my offer still refused. Numerous emails via various sites not replied to, Estate Agents of the boating world! I bought privately in the end.

Jump to conclusions?
You can't seriously think that Ancasta are marketing this boat to the best of their ability?
If (and it's a big if) just becuase the owner provided these photo's, doesn't mean that Ancasta , or any broker for that matter, should be using them.
The title is "Shame on Ancasta" not "Shame On The Owner". IMHO it doesn't make one bit of difference if the owner has provided the pics. They are rubbish, and it makes the boat look rubbish.

And we bought our present boat thru Ancasta, quite happy with what they did.

Can't see that it's Ancastas job to tidy up someone else's boat. Lots of conclusions being made without the actual facts being known.
Also I would not be unhappy seeing a photo with a dehumidifier in prominent view, shows the owner is interested in keeping the interior dry. If it were my boat I would certainly tidy up before arranging for it to be placed with a brokerage but I guess lots of people don't really care.
