Hi there, me and a mate have just bought a Shakespeare Clubman (i think?) boat for £200 with trailer a spare 5hp yammy 2 stroke. The boat looked ok when we bought it but turned out to be full of water when we got it back. Took about 20 mins for te water to stop coming out of the drain plug! Floor turned out to be completely rotten too.
I was wondering what we should do in order to check if it is watertight/seaworth before we start spending a bit of money on it. It needs a new floor which should be ok but I'm unsure what we should paint the hull with and what I should use to repair some chips out of the hull (gelcoat filler?). I have repaired many a surfboard with resin and glass but know nothing about boats
Attached some pics, it really is a bit of a state but if anyone has an opinion on the boat, please let me know!
I guess the plan is to touch it up with paint on exterior and spruce the interior and put in a 40hp engine. Good/bad idea?
Cheers
Alex
