my question is,I have been made aware of the above and first of all does anyone know where I can obtain one. Seondly if any one has one in use any positives or negatives. This piece of electronic gadgetry allows one to use the vhf ariel to get signals to the am fm radio. AMAZON have them in the states, but for some reason will not ship them to the UK.

I wouldn't recommend it, it is just a coil pick off the VHF antenna inner wire and has an unscreened plastic case. They do work but I hate to think of the possible effects on both the VHF transmission signal and any other nearby electronics. The component worth of the unit is about £0.10 and you will proabaly be charged the best part of £30 for one. I believe Greenham Regis will sell you one if you insist.

Force 4 do one - not shakespeare but Pacific aerials, Code No 230011 @ £26.95(but it's a 2006 catalogue)It looks better than the shakspeare on in that it has the VHF aerial plug at one end of a 'box' and two leads out.

The far better option is to have a pushpit mounted standby VHF antenna 1/4 ss rod about 20 inches long that will work fine for the VHF broadcast and by changing plugs will be a standby for VHF marine. And at a similar price to a splitter. olewill

I have a Shakespeare device. It has been installed for about 7 years. Works fine and doesnt cause a problem with vhf reception of transmission power
