Any one have an idea as to where I could purchase a template for a 13ft Shakespeare Windshield, or anyone have any idea how to make one from perspex?

I purchased the boat as a project with no windshield. I have installed a new deck, repainted the hull, installed seats and a few trimmings. to finish the boat and enjoy the waves she needs a windshield of some kind anyone have any ideas.

I once made one from perspex for a Fletcher - its not easy because perpex cracks when you cut it. Make a dummy from cardboard. Start with an oblong and cut away the bits from the base of the dummy screen that you don't want. Imagine the screen folding backwards and downwards for the rake angle and also slimming at the edges where it meets the sides of the boat. When you get this right (and it will take a few oblongs of cardboard) you then take the template to a perpex shop and get then to do it. Dont forget to ask them to drill fastening holes in the right places and line them with plastic eyelets so that the screen fastens to the raised bit of the foredeck.

Lastly....and very importantly, a perspex screen has absolutley NO strength without a metal "U" strip running over the top edge of the screen, usually made from aluminium. Without this strip, the first time you lean on your new screen, or a wave hits it, it breaks. Buy a strip and bend it into place and glue it there with Araldite - don't drill and screw the screen!!

You will find that with the edging strip on, that the screen goes from a wobbly nothing into a ridged structure. Hope this helps.
