Shakedown cruise on a P vessel, 17 years after

Actually I was a bit busy checking all sort of stuff onboard, so I took just a very few pics.
I do have a wakeshot though, but I'm afraid you have to click the link, 'cause I've yet to find a Photobucket replacement for embedding pics in a post. One thing I'm surely NOT going to do is accept the ransom of those crooks! :ambivalence:

You won't believe it, but now they are blocking links to photos! You wake shot is not available.

Blimey, that's nuts.
I did try to access the link after logging out, and it worked, but maybe they also make some IP address check...
I wholeheartedly hope that the ransom plan of those folks will fail miserably, and PDQ.
In the meantime, I for one will not pay them one single cent! :ambivalence:

See attachment for the wakeshot... :encouragement:

I also agree that a P hull does not feel right at D speeds. I dont know what it is but maybe its as simple as being because a P boat is always lighter and does not have a real keel, a P boat at D speeds never feels really settled. Its a bit like driving a Porsche at 30mph; the car tells you all the time that it doesnt want to do that speed. Maybe stabs do make a difference to this feeling and I look forward to trying this out!
100% agreed.
Sure, stabs can improve that feeling, and I'm looking fwd to hearing about your experience on that.
But essentially, a P hull remains outside its design envelope, at D speed.

You could, I suppose, fit Maretron's fuel flow metering to each engine then have a Vas-style Raspberry Pi device that would compute/display load factor. I think that load factor is just injector opening time as a percentage of max opening time, but litres/hour as % of max litres per hour would be a good approximation. As you may recall I fitted these gizmos to both my gensets, and I can report that they work well but are questionable in terms of cost vs usefulness of course (easily cured by man-maths at the point of checkout, obviously).
Good point/idea J, thanks.
TBH, for this year I already applied enough of man math, and I don't think S will give me more leeway on that... :nonchalance:
But I'll bear that in mind for future upgrades!

Blimey......ANT could never do that! :D

Was looking for a Like button as on Facebook. See no Displacement boat can fly and keep you on land ;)
I actually agree with what you say whatever the boat. I think 25 knots is the optimum cruising speed for long 25 nm plus distances.
Displacing I can live with it at in between islands and appreciative scenery for a few NM.

Yup, I sort of agree.
My first sea boat was a Molinari capable of 35 kts CRUISING speed, but she felt just right at around 25.
Now, after a quarter of a century, the much larger and less sporty DP reminds me of the same feeling.
If only those beasts in the e/r could use sea water rather than fuel... :ambivalence:

Hi P,
It must be some difference going from D to P boat / hull.

Lovely looking boat from what I could see from the other thread.

For all of our sakes, please share some pictures! It's the middle of summer and here in Ireland it's heavy wind / rain... almost makes me want to ship out to the Med (I wish).

Enjoy the rest of the summer and the new beast, i'm sure it'll bring lots of fun.

Regards to S.

Sorry N, I know a full report with piccies is way overdue, but both the refitting works and some bureaucratic issues took me MUCH longer than I expected, and in the process I never bothered taking any pics aside from the "technical" ones, so to speak.
And the shakedown cruise to Istria (Croatia) has been along the same lines.
On top of that, Photobucket is now useless.

Bottom line, stay tuned! :)
I should be able to make a decent report upon the final delivery trip of 1200Nm or so, showing not only the boat but also some nice spots - which is what boating is all about, after all... :encouragement:

....but she was a classy girl, I liked her a lot :)
How true, C. We also did, in many ways. And I'm very happy to have left her in very good hands to a CF old friend.
In fact, it's very possible that by the time you WILL come back next summer, we'll have the opportunity to make a bit of cruising on both (oil and water, sort of!) vessels...

I speak for everyone when I say that I wait in anticipation.... the weather here is starting to depress me. Locally i'm known for being on my boat (in summer months) more than on dry land. I got a call last week asking "if I was OK" as I haven't been on the boat much this summer.

Aaah Irish summer.... at least the rain is warmer :D

Be careful what you wish for....you know we don't need much of an invitation ;)

Good thing for the new owner of Ant you are there for advice and recommendations.

Yes agree Alt, definitely looking forward to a cruise report. Although knowing MM as we do, it's hard to imagine him without a good camera in his hand, or very close by, ready for a good photographic opportunity :)

You mention the bad Irish weather this season, I've heard the Scottish/English season has been quite good?! You don't seem that much further away?

Congratulations for getting everything ready for the big trip. 1200 NM's is a proper cruise, btw.

Agree with others that pics are long overdue :).

Regarding cloud storage, I've done a few tests with Google Pictures and even if it doesn't offer the direct
