Shaft log stuck

I am trying to get the shaft log off. It is unbolted from the hull and there is a bit of play there. I have tried levering it away from the hull but it wont budge. I am not familiar with this type and thinking maybe you have to take it apart first. There is a hexagon section so perhaps I need a big spanner.Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

It unscrews. That why it has the flats on it. You will need a fair leverage to get it moving, but once you brake the sealant it should come off easily.
