Has anyone gone down the road of increasing shaft diameter, or is it prohibitively expensive? One of the problems I've got with re engineing is that I want to run a 2:1 gearbox and bigger props. At the moment I've got 1:1 16" that spin up to 2800 and I think thats a bit on the fast side.Trouble is the shafts are only 1.5 inches diameter and for 2:1 I need 2".
Does anyone know of a good enginneering yard I could talk to,I would rather go by reccomendations if possible.
Thanks, Al.

what are your current shafts? 316? could you get away with monel or T-met?

its been done on my boat, from 1.250 to 1.375 inches, think its just nuts and bolts apart from boring the p brackets to take bigger cutlass bearings.

Thanks Ben, from what I've been told 2" is the minimum diameter with good material.Where did you get yours done? Got a feeling that with 0.5" increase it will be new brackets etc.
