I am putting this in here just to ask some advice, I have a 1" stainless shaft approx 1.24m long and a bronze prop (no idea what size) that I took off a 16ft clinker boat I once had.

What can I do with them, are they worth selling and if so how much are they worth?

:(

the shaft might be of use sold on ebay separately, as you have the dimensions.

The prop, less so, though it is quite easy to measure the diameter and pitch, whether it's a tapered bore, or keyed, and left or right handed. If you have that info, try ebay, but the forum For Sale section is usually very lively and keen on small items.

Best of luck.

Yes, the For Sale section works well. Potential buyers might need to know:

Shaft - taper ratio, thread size, with nut? Wear in the bearing area?

Prop - dimensions. Often stamped into the boss beneath the nut/washer.

Or sometimes between the blades on the hub of the prop. (At least two of mine have been stamped with their size there.)

To the OP you are looking for something like 10x8 ie 10" prop with an 8" pitch. If you then add how many blades its almost a complete description and certainly enough for someone to know if its what they need. (The only other aspect would be blade area - some props have thin little blades and some have big almost overlapping blades. The latter more for motor boats or motor sailors, although props for planing boats are different again I believe, but I digress.

If it's standard and it is a metric shaft such as 25mm or 22mm it will have a metric taper 1:10
if its imperial such as 1" or 3/4" it will have a 1:12 taper.
Of course someone could have machined any taper they like so always better to check it.
