Well it didn't take long for your thread to get hijacked Peter /forums/images/icons/frown.gif.
While you have probably considered this already but if your bio still stands as going overseas again, and if that may be relatively soon, is it worth waiting and getting a boat where ever that may be.
In any event, best of luck in your boat seeking.

<hr width=100% size=1>I am the cat but I am only 6.
I bought my boat in Greece last year with every intention of either sailing it back to the UK or shipping it back.
Two weekends worth of work I realised what I'd be missing if I brought it back:-
1. Fabulous sailing area
2. Fantastic, friendly boatyard (when on the mooring they check the boat twice a week, pump the bilges, put the boat on the quay prior to my arrival, hose it down and fill water tanks and when ashore on a weekly basis charge the batteries). Cost for a 29' - 60 Euros per month in commission and 90 Euros a month out of commission.
3. Cost of parts and materials *much* cheaper than the UK
4. Almost guaranteed sailing weather.
5. A sailing season that runs from beginning of March through to end of November
Thought that access might be a problem but I tend to catch the red-eye flights to Athens arriving at 4:30-5:00 AM in the morning, down to Piraeus (now much easier as their is a metro rail link from the airport) to catch the first ferry and I'm on the boat by 10:30AM. I have done a Friday night to Sunday night weekend this way.
If you can book Easyjet far enough in advance it works out pretty cheap!
Love the place and won't be bringing the boat back to the UK for the forseeable future!
Buy Shady 2 in Greece, then take a couple of years to bring her back to the UK, moving her everytime you take a holiday. I did a kind of circuit over the last 2 years - France Spain Portugal Spain Canaries Azores Ireland. Doesn't get boring in one place. CAn't wait to get going again.
If you want to sail cheaply in the UK in the meantime then my Wayfarer's for sale!
I'll second all that gk29 has said about sailing in Greece. We bought our boat in Corfu and have just completed 3 years in Greek waters (and 2 in Turkish).
We are currently based at Porto Heli - where are you gk29?
Henry, you may have guessed it from my description!
Porto Heli, which, Potar is on the mainland (Pelopponese) directly opposite the island of Spetses. www.portoheli.net will give you more info...
Turn right and you have the Argolic Gulf to explore, turn left and you have the Gulf of Corinth.
Being on the mainland makes a big difference in my books as you have the choice of the hydrofoil or renting a car for a breathtaking drive through incredible scenery!
