SH2200 Vhf DSC radio problem

I’ll say again fairly recently this season I have called my wife on our yacht on 16 from our hand held and then gone to 80 and chatted to her there so something is not right.

In that case, one of your sets is using the US channel set and the other is using Int/UK

FYI, you should not be using channel 80 to talk to your wife, or as a ship to ship channel. 06, 08, 72 and 77 are designated ship to ship channels.

I’ll check the settings out. It’s not something we did per se just to check if vhf was working. At least I’m now much better informed so thanks for the education, which of course I really should have known.

You seem frustrated that you are repeating yourself, but the responses are all saying the same thing as well!

If you have been able to talk between fixed set and handheld on VHF Ch80 then one of your sets is on the wrong region.

Have you done the SRC Licence? Is there someone local to you who knows about marine radio regions?

As I said in post 22 I’ll check my servings and yes I have done the course albeit quite a few years ago. I understood Duplex to be like talking on the telephone. Of course I’m frustrated by someone telling me something I have done, can’t be done - albeit I should not have been trying it in the first place. Thanks again to all you who corrected me.
