I often forget to check my PMs, and as the OP is not one of the frequent users of the forum, it occurred to me that he might not check his either. But I thought he probably would check back to see how his thread was getting on.

I reckon the kindest thing you can do with the Ebco is ditch the junk inside and keep the box for yer sarnies :)

I kind of agree as it is pretty junky when you look at a Plath or even a Davies but it worked for me. I used one for real in the 90s when a GPS was unaffordable for me. It took me from the UK to the Caribbean.

I never did manage a star sight with it but a daily noon fix with the little calculator to do the sums was fairly easy and seemed reliable enough.

I did the adjustement check rigmarole pretty often but found that if the temp was constant and I was carefull about picking it up and putting it back in its boax as suggested it did not need much tweaking.

The person I bought my boat from was a retired master mariner who had a Plath which he let me try out a couple of times but that sucker was heavy!
