Sewing question: insering a 'gusset' in a canvas cover

I am altering a canvas winter cover to fit my boat.

It doesn't quite cover the after corners of the cockpit and I need to insert a triangular piece of canvas (ie a 'gusset') each side at the rear.

The approximate dimensions of this gusset are: base 12", height 45", so the included angle at the apex of the gusset will have quite a sharp angle.

Joining the long sides of the gusset to the cover will be a straightforward seaming job but I'm not sure how to make a neat job of the sharp apex.

Any advice please? (Assuming I want to do the job myself)

That's not a dart ...... A dart is a fold or tuck coming to a point to introduce shape

ITYWF that what you need is a "gusset"

Google sewing a gusset and you should find some videos

Thanks for pointing out my error. I have done some googling and I find it's also known as a godet.
