Dutch website www.motoren.ath.cx does have a sev-marchal manual (in dutch language), this however does not describe the type I have. Was used on Peugeot and Volvo engines.
Special, because it has two separated B+ outlets and more, because it is brushless. Its stator holds a "spider web" that contains the field coil, and its rotor circles while the field coil does not move. The rotor's claws are so short that the two halve do not get together, thus leaving space for the spider web in between them. The axis, holding the two halves of the rotor, cannot be taken out without destroying the spider web.
I want to dismantle the thing to renew the lacquer of the stator windings.
Would anyone know a source of information?

Hi,

Have you tried an auto electrical specialist?

Some of the better ones can re-build / rewind alternators (if that would suit ?).

I don't know where you are located but I have used these people before and found them very helpful (but no mail order service unfortunately);

good luck

I have; they could not help but offered a replacement for € 350. Dipping the stator would cost me € 10, but then I have to dismantle her. Replacement is not my favourite option because I have two identical alternators and the electrical system is adapted to the double B+.

I think know the alternator you are refering to although I dont remeber it having two B+ connections It was fitted to a few, maybe just one model, Renault cars I believe.
I have seen one off a VP MD11C in pieces but as I did not dismantle it can help with your query. (Similarly I can't be blamed for it being put back together wrongly)

I suppose you cant undo the fixings for the field coil support and the stator coils and withdraw all the internals together, or am I missng the point of your question.

It has a relatively small output so have you considered replacing it with a more modern type with a bigger output.

I did take the one I referred to to Curd Brothers in Tunbridge Wells to get it sorted out. They have a good reputation but they were not cheap and are a long way from Holland

The SEV Marchal 14/35 is used in some Bukh DV10/20s. Unfortunately the workshop manual only shows an exploded diagram of the earlier 14/30 (brush) alternator. It might be worth a call to Bukh UK 44(0)1202 668840.
All the best,
Ron

The CEV is an odd alternator all-round, I seem to remember, most commonly fitted to 2CV cars if you want to look around for a scrapper.
Can't remember details, but I replaced one with a conventional car-type 70amp alternator a few years ago. Took the old CEV to an alternator specialist, who was able to supply one with roughly the same dimensions and the same handedness. Brackets and so on had to be modified (in other words, improved from the M. Mouse belt tension system you find on most engines), but it wasn't a hugely demanding job. From memory, the new alternator was under £100.

good evening,
indeed, I cannot remove anything of the axis, in parts or in total. It seems that to achieve this, first one bearing plus a rotor half should be pulled off the axis, then it can be removed from the other side.
You may well be right about replacing by higher output alternators. I feed two 110A plus one 55A batteries. Then, however, dimensions have to be ok plus I have to adapt the electrical system. So first, give the old boy - or is she a she - a chance

thanks for this link
sev marchal was bought by valeo, years ago, and the site lists the sev-marchal parts numbers as valeo-numbers. but no luck: out of stock
