I am fairly sure that it could not be 'taken off you', if they wanted it they would have to buy it off you.

Croftie, got your PM, as you say wouldn't let me reply. I think after a few days the new user limits get removed. Anyhow welcome to the forum!

Regarding the existing trade mark, I think that just restricts me from copying that stylised mark, it wouldn't make my domain name registration 'abusive'.

But I could be wrong!

hmm. Not my area of law but I've watched a few of these from close sidelines. I've been closely involved in contracts where cybersquatters (kids) got several millions of dollars fairly recently because they squatted years ago on some big name and others where they had the domain name taken off them for $nil because they squatted recently. @Mike brazier, the names if registered since the various cyber squatting law changes can most certainly be taken off people. @pete, there is no safety net of "designed to" as you have written above. You can lose based on what actually occurred, regardless of whether you designed it

Returning to your original questions; kind of fun when I look back over where Lumishore came from and relate that experience to your question.

It is no secret that Lumishore's genesis ( and much success) is owed to the good people of this manor. The company would not exist if it weren't 'real' rather than virtual friendships formed with folks on here and there has been much guidance and feedback over the ensuing years. So a somewhat belated Thanks from all of us at Lumishore as we have the Queens Award for Enterprise for the second consecutive year.

You make me smile when you talk about 'one-day-a-week' and a return of £20k per annum. Not that's unachievable but when G and I started set up and launched Lumishore, it was supposed to be just another 'interest' in my developing portfolio that after a few months I would only spend a day or two a week on. Beware of getting commercial-involved in a passion -- it becomes all consuming! I never intended working 10-16/7/365 , having said that I've loved every second of it ! My other business interests at the time were crystallised years ago. i would be wary of working capital requirements, very high relative to other industries I would suggest -- my personal financial commitment has been very much higher than planned. Im not writing how much publicly but no problem by PM.

A few references to Lumishore on here and some quick answers:-

- Our main distribution channels are OEM and Trade ( the strategy and execution are different by geography) . We don't sell 'Direct' as those channels are so important to to us. The only exception being 'Friends and Family'.

- Yes, LED is in my humble opinion very much the future for all lighting. The big 'lighting' companies are managing the pace of its introduction as well (slowly!) as they can. There are however a number of major challenges in the world and if our own team were able to speak honestly on here they would suggest there is more BS spoken by people who claim to understand the technology than you can throw a stick at. A few on here will testify as to just how good they are and not BSing themselves . They would also tell us that the whole area is still developing a pace -- not just the Die themselves but the electronics and middleware surrounding them.

- You could also ask why we haven't done 'Above water' lighting for the marine ourselves. The answer is ' We might but not yet' ; some complex reasons surrounding the timing, some technical, some strategic and we are very much focused at the moment on achieving / retaining leadership in our niche.

Pete - Delighted to explain the market, channels, products, competition etc etc when Im back . However currently enjoying boating in Turkey and having too much fun! Ill give you a ring next week.
 
Market research time (just to whet your appetites - geddit!?)....

1) Would you find either of the following two unbreakable glass designs acceptable?
2) If so, which would you prefer?
3) Assuming a 10.9oz / 310ml size, would you be happy to drink red and white wine from the same sized glass (not at the same time!)?

Are they the same size and volume, ie the pictures are both same scale?

If yes I prefer the one on the left for white wines, thought I've gone and bought the ones on the right - should have scrolled down before hitting "buy" I suppose. It's a fine call - either is ok, and this particular choice isn't going to make or break the dressing of a table (whereas other things will)

Yep, both the same size. Left has the edge for me but I'd certainly drink out of either (not that that says much)!
 
Both nice glasses but the one on the left edges it for me.

What are they made of btw?

We have some acrylic wine glasses and really like the weight/feel of them and they're don't scratch like ordinary plastic ones.

Just a feeling - but the one on the right seems Half Full
The one on the left seems Half Empty
Actually , they do - and I think they would in the flesh.

So I would prefer the one on the right.
 
While I sympathize with Hurricane logic, I must say that I also prefer the one on the left.
And not because of the different (and imho pointless, or at least way OTT) theories on the bowl shape, but simply because I don't like the stem of the one on the right.
In fact, for obvious practical reasons, onboard I've only got one set of wine glasses, whose bowl is more similar to the one on the right, and I'm quite happy to use them for both red and white.
But imho, the asymmetric stem following the bowl curvature is only appropriate for flutes, if that.
Here, I said that. In the hope that Mother Teresa won't bother reading this thread from her grave... :)
 
Personally, I think those glasses look a bit small for entertaining in an expansive fashion. They're kinda saying, one glass will be just fine for your diet/if you're driving home. I'd prefer something that spoke out and said, this is a glass which won't need topping up till it's empty; something which would be handy in a brawl afterwards. :D
