Coincidentally working on my Centaur heads outlet seacock. I'll chip in as it may help the OP.
Anyone know what size the nuts would be? Mine is old, like his, with slotted heads. 9/16 af is too small & 5/8 too big. I've only got a 15mm ring spanner here & that won't go on due to the shape of the casting. Are these some archaic plumbing size?
Cheers.

No almost certainly good old Imperial 5/16 W; 3/8 BSF. but try a 15mm open ended spanner it is only a gnat's cock smaller

Dig your Whitworth spanners out from the cobwebbed and rat infested corner of the workshop.

EDIT

A minimal amount of googling confirms that older Bakes Seacocks were indeed fitted with 3/8" BSW screws

I confess I didn't search as the WiFi on the slipway is not terribly fast. I had printed Blake's instructions from the previous owner and it showed hex heads not slots so of limited use in that context.

I haven't got any Whitworth spanners, even in the darkest corner of my shed, I thought I was doing well to have AF!

Given the nature of tides, I had to crack on & used an adjustable, turning them an eighth at a time due to lack of space.
All lubed up now.

So Conk01, take some of Noah's spanners with you, or a range of adjustables and mole grips- at the smaller sizes as you'll probably be tight for space?
