I have a year old Princess v52 with 70 hrs on the clock. What is the going rate for an annual service?

What boat do you have and what is your servicing cost? Unfortunately there is no rate card for servicing costs and little competition. I worry I will pay too much particularly as it is a marine service.

If you buy a new boat do you not get your first engine service included in the purchase cost at no charge ?

Its difficult to give an exact answer as every boat is different, which engines do you have, drive system, generator(s). The parts cost for a service is on the internet if you count up all the filters, anodes etc. Then how long it will take depends on how good the access is. How much it then costs is also influenced by where in the world you are too. As its a first service you will almost certainly need the engine manufacturer approved technicians to do it to maintain the warranty, so they often cost more than an independent too. I would guesstimate @ £1800.

If you have Volvo D11 I'd guess about £1100 + VAT per side, not including travel costs if you have no local dealer.

As said above you'll need engine manufacturer to perform service to extend warranty to 24 months.
