Servicing a Jabasco!

The trouble with opening it up regularly is that you may encourage leaks at the gasket(s). This means that you need to have spares to hand, in which case you may as well leave it alone and deal with it when you have to.
 
I think I have read about people putting a smear of vaseline/grease on one of the seals but may not be right!?

For the sake of 25 quid, I would throw a service kit at it. Whilst the boat is out of commission you can take the pump off, take it home and do it at leisure - less chance of it packing up on you when you are away in the summer and you having to hunt around for the parts and spend half a day head first in the heads compartment whilst the sun is shining.
