service recommendation northwest

Dunno what engine that particular Force actually is. Not a Chrysler I dont think. Anyway, top mechanic Northwest is Outboard and Hydroplane Services, in Aughton near Ormskirk. The man there is Frank, the proprietor. He used to tour with Mercury racing team mechanicking on their outboards. He is a wizard with outboards, though not massively cheap.

It's 4 few miles from jcn 7 of M58, head north on A59 dual carriageway, turn right soon after 1st roundabout, a bit hidden, by the Swan pub, and it's there on the right. Postcode L39 6ST in streetmap will find it. Tel (01695) 422350

Bill Higham Marine in Worsley Manchester are great (Just off A580). It is an old fashioned business with 1000s of engines and parts. They are not the fastest (Make a booking) but they are honest and reliable and it is a family business. They will charge approx £125 for your engine service. The number is 0161 790 7678. or WWW.billhighammarine.co.uk.

I had a problem with a 75hp Suzuki PT & T. Everyone else said buy a new unit. they stripped and re-built it at half the cost.

The force engine is an old Mercury/Marina. (I Think??)

Aquatics are expensive, shepherds very expensive and all others unreliable from experience.

Narrow your search?

The NW is a big place - whereabouts are you? My boat is based in Porthmadog, North Wales about 70 miles from Chester. I use Harbour Marine which is run by a very able marine engineer - Rob Walker. 07718 792509.

Or, as mentioned on this thread, Bill Higham near Manchester.

Re: Narrow your search?

I will also endose Rob, though I think the guy should have a day off, he is going to burn out soon, he works seven days often until dark.

He is now in Pwllheli, by Dickies, excellent service, honest and efficient.

Re: Narrow your search?

Yes, I have often thought that. I asked him if its just the summer that he is busy. The answer is that he is now that busy all year round - hence the move to Pwllheli to a proper industrial unit (and shiny new Mitsubishi).

You're right, he'll burn out if he doesnt get some rest!
