Service intervals

I know that a lot of people here will change fuel filters every 100 hours or so, change the oil every season and throw away impellors every season.

I have just been reading through the original Perkins 4-108 workshop manual and noticed with some amusement the they reccomend changing the final fuel filter every ......... 900 hours. Injectors should be serviced every ......... 2700 hours

150 hours on a oil change sounds right though.

Lots of money being thrown away!

I dumped my 4108 600 hrs before the injector service was due

Somebody else serviced my injectors & rebuilt the top end & possibly rings too. I had his 500 quid & another 500 for the TMP box

I have a vacuum gauge on the fuel filters, so only change when the filter starts to get blocked. Check the impellor, but don't replace it unless there's obvious damage. Change the oil religiously - turbo engine needs nice clean oil!
