Seriously Windy

We've had one boat (gibsea 26) blow over onto a neighboring boat but looks not too bad.
Oceanus 43 jib managed to unfurl and is wrecked.
Otherwise Southwold escaped ok.

Highest wind speed was at 04:50 when Royal Norfolk and Suffolk Club anemometer recorded 66knts
I got down to Southwold harbour at 08:30 to get things checked and I saw a gust at 57knts at about 09:30.

I was looking at them with the generator behind, so I was looking at the front of them

That's odd. The wind was approx Southerly in Burnham, so if you were looking at the Bradwell ones from Mersea, you either seeing the backs or there was a 180 degree wind shift?

We popped down to walton to check on Mandarin, by the time we arrived at 1300 it had calmed down to just 40 knots gusting up to 50 :(

Really wondered what it had been like when we found a soap dispenser overturned and the sliding doors to the forecabin half shut. Happily no signa of damage to any boats we could see as we walked round, and the Marina staff were doing their rounds.

Morning all, I put my boat in the water at Fambridge on Good Friday and I went along on the Monday to check on it after the storm. I was surprised to see nearly all of the boats sitting on the mud along with most of the pontoon. It didn't look like there was any damage to anything.

:apologetic:
Not what you need at the start of the season.

The yard must have called the guys in on a bank holiday; by the time I arrived they were just picking up the last boat...from what I could gather they were generally lifting keel or very shallow draft...very small legs holding them up with ropes holding the legs together..as soon as the rope stretched over they went!

Picked some fenders out of the water and found a small step ladder blowing down the pontoon as well (these are now in the trolley park).

Several people checking lines/etc...oh yes and walked past Guapa; she looked fine!
