Serious cruising in open boat.

There was a TV doco recently about the re-enactment of Shackleton's open boat voyage from Antartica to the Falklands. Now that did not look like fun.

Think it was to South Georgia.

IIRR, the pilot of the Concorde that crashed, had windsurfed across the Atlantic.

Many years ago when returning from a Grass Track and Speedway gig in the old East Germany I was tasked with keeping the driver awake on the first leg towards Hamburg. We got slackjawing about his exploits.

He was well travelled and had been a Superyacht Skipper and a First Officer on commercial ships, mostly tankers through Suez.

He told me he was called by the Watchkeeper on one trip. He got the bins out and spotted a windsurfer about 40 NM off the Morroccan coast.

After doing a bit of research he found it was a French guy trying to break a record Marseille to Tangier.

Same guy perhaps?
