Hi,
I am selling my small yacht and a buyer has agreed to purchase, can anyone recommend a bill of sale that i can print off?
Preferably with provision for someone from my club to sign to confirm my ownership etc.
What is the standard procedure in these matters?

Thanks!

Yes i did look at that one but as my boat is not registered in any way and that form requires sending off to the MCA who have no inf on my boat it didn't seem suitable!

Its cheap as in around £4000! I just want something simple but covering the basic points! I certainly don't intend to go through solicitors etc. (I am not currently an RYA member so i can't retrieve that form)

You can use the MCA Bill of sale for any yacht of any size whether registered or not - no need to send it on to the MCA. Where it says transfer .... share put 64/64ths if you are selling the boat completely. Traditionally shares in ships are in 1/64ths.

What's the matter with just giving him a receipt for his money, detailing what he is buying?
It's a small boat, not registered. Is that any different, or even as complicated, as selling a car or a caravan?

I've sold my last 4 boats that way.

Lake sailor is right, not always but this time. Give him an ordinary invoice : Received the sum of #??? as full payment for boat, name, address.

This marine business can get a bit over-officious. When buying I always ask them to state they're selljgn full 64/64 shares and when price is mentioned put Received #1 plus other considerations.

This means I can show the next person buying the receipt and not the exact price. All legal and above board.

It is a bit too advanced for many though!
