Hi All,

Apologies if this has been done before but if I want to sell my boat without a broker what are the best, free and or cheap options available?

Answers to the question would be much appreciated :D

Cheers,

Del

Create a free website on Wix or similar, buy a domain name eg. fairline43forsale and spend a little money on a Google Adwords campaign. Sold my previous boat this way... cost less than £100

Effort and CBA but I appreciate the suggestion

Are you looking to upgrade already?! :disgust:

Was waiting for someone to ask ;) I think I enjoy the boat more as pied e terre having been brought up in that area and although I enjoy going out on it, it doesn't grab me as much as I thought and yes I know I haven't been far. That coupled with some recent new life choices and the travelling we could do with the money we wouldn't have to spend on it each year, has made me conclude that I will sell and review in a couple of years. Having said that, we don't need to sell so I'm in no rush and we're off to the boat at the weekend I will still enjoy her while we have her. Best thing is, I sleep better on board than I do at home.

Free & effective = a bit of effort. CBA = money and broker. Free and zero effort = keep the boat (or take a bath)!

:-D

If it doesn't shift in 6 months, I'll pay someone to knock up a website. Just put it on preloved as a starter and will keep adding it. Meanwhile if you know anyone...….

I have no idea of the cruising grounds around your area, but what can I tell you. I have seen quite a few new comers in our area experience a mild disappointment and failed expectation after their first year because they haven't overcome their fears. Exploring new places, pushing the envelope and overnight anchoring etc. Those that have tagged along with the crowd and learnt to be confident thereafter on their own get bitten by the bug. Those that dont initially go with a crowd tend to go around the same circles as dictated by the gate/sill / tides until they are bored stiff by the monotony of it all. That first year is not easy as you tend to fear the boat. That never really goes, you just get used to it :p If part of your decision is the stress and fear factor, and we are all quite familiar with it, then know it gets better quite quickly and if you can find some fellow boaty friends, then things start looking up quite dramatically. Either way, boating is not for everyone but I wish you the best. If you cant sell, you could probably twist my arm in looking after it for you up here in Conwy while you enjoy your travels ;)

Here where you're coming from but it's not that. A big part of the decision is the comment regards change in life choices/decisions. As part of this change I want to do city breaks and other hols and, and, and

Have you thought about putting the boat abroad? When we were UK based there was always the feeling that we should be using the boat most weekends, at the expense of not really doing anything else, but since we started boating in the Med, it's easy to confine boating to say, 10 weeks a year and then lots of choices for the other 42 weeks. Plus the weather is so very different, the use we get from the boat is so much more fulfilling.

Yes we have an the idea was to cruise the Med in 2 years time as part live aboards. To put this to bed, we still may do so but as we have now committed to long-term with our foster child this is not going to be for some time. Again, if I don't sell it until the end of next season it wouldn't be an issue. As I say, we want to start visiting some European cities, starting with Prague in December - already booked.

As said Apollo Duck is good but personally I found The Yacht Market better again. Pay some money for a decent ad. Both sites will give you full control of the ad; upload as many pictures as you need plus as much description as is required. I believe both sites will be marketed in many countries.
Good Luck.

your biggest problems people will want to know why you are selling it so quick ,and will be looking for problems

That's easy, read my posts above to find out why and get it surveyed and sea trialled. Fridge in saloon doesn't work. The other two do :-)
